CHAPTER 15 - LORD KṚṢṆA’S DESCRIPTION OF MYSTIC YOGA PERFECTIONS

Chapter 15 contains 36 verses and it is divided into 8 classes, totaling 4:18 hours.

We begin a new chapter exclusively dedicated to the mystic superpowers, or siddhis, of the meditation-only path of yoga. Krishna starts by listing the 18 powers and dividing them into two categories. In this class we hear about the 8 major ones. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.1-5.

Having explained the 8 primary siddhis, which grant practically god-like power, Krishna now lists the 10 secondary superpowers yogis can achieve. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.6-9.

Now Krishna explains how each of the yogic superpowers, the siddhas, the vibhutis, of the yogic path. In the class, I explain the massive endeavour, the irrationality, and the great danger, in seeking and achieving such powers. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.10-12.

Krishna continues to explain how each of the yogic superpowers, the siddhas, the vibhutis, of the yogic path are obtained. In the class, I explain the nature of the material world as a place for the strangest desires, which Krishna kindly lets us pursue until we become fully satisfied and sane in pure love, prema. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.13-15.

Krishna continues to explain how each of the yogic superpowers, the siddhas, the vibhutis, of the yogic path are obtained. He finishes explaining the 8 mega powers and begins explaining how each of the 10 secondary powers are obtained. In so doing, we also learn important lessons on how to improve our lives. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.16-18.

Krishna continues explaining how to achieve the 10 secondary yogic superpowers, by which we can learn how nature and consciousness work. In the class, I cite several examples of these mystic yoga superpowers used in the famous stories, in the Bhagavad-gita and their parallels in the Yoga Sutras. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.19-23.

Krishna continues explaining how to attain lesser mystic powers, siddhis, starting with the startling power to die by simply leaving the body through the sahasrarachakra (the crown chakra) and how to enjoy in the pleasure gardens of the demigods. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.24-27.

We finish the chapter on the mystic powers, the yogic superpowers or siddhis, with Krishna explaining that it’s a waste of time to seek such powers separately. Instead, by devotion, we can attain all perfection directly from Him. In this class, we covered verses 11.15.29-36.
