CHAPTER 9 - DETACHMENT FROM ALL THAT IS MATERIAL

Chapter 9 contains 33 verses and it is divided into 6 classes, totaling 2:50 hours.

In this class we discuss the concept of solitude and detachment to pursue our spiritual life. We also have the story of the young lady and her bracelets, to exemplify the impact of company in our lives. In this class, we covered verses 11.9.1-10.

Now the avadhuta brahmana Dattatreya gives powerful instructions on the path of yoga, laying out the path in clear, direct terms. We explain the verses deeply, specially the question of understanding the roles of the modes of nature in our life and spiritual practice. In this class, we covered verses 11.9.11 and 12.

In this class we will hear a summary of the Vedic conception of the creation and dissolution of the Universe, time and matter, after first talking about extreme focus, renunciation, and the avadhuta practice. In this class, we covered verses 11.9.13-16.

The avadhuta sage will now explain the vedic concept of the creation of the Universe and time and how this connects with our spiritual consciousness. In this class, we covered verses 11.9.17-21.
