CHAPTER 16 - THE LORD’S OPULENCE

Chapter 16 contains 44 verses and it is divided into 6 classes, totaling 3:05 hours.

We start a new chapter focused on understanding the nature of the power of God, what in the tradition is known as “His opulences”. This kind of aiswarya-jnana is very important to solidify one’s devotion to God and to prioritize service to Him. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.1-5.

We start this class with important verses where Krishna directly mentions His previous conversation with Arjuna, which we call the Bhagavad-gita, and compares it to this conversation He’s having with Uddhava, which we call the Uddhava-gita. We then proceed to read verses on important concepts of God, starting with the concept of Krishna as your soul (supersoul), always with you. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.6-10.

This class follows a close parallel to Chapter 10 of the Bhagavad-gita, where Krishna lists categories of things, points out the best thing in that category, and then says that He is that. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.11-16.

We continue hearing from Krishna the supremacy of God, in a section that’s just like Chapter 10 of Bhagavad-gita, where Krishna lists categories of things, points out the best thing in that category, and then says that He is that. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.17-26.

In this class we cover beautiful, poetic verses that help us understand the absolute supremacy of God, of Krishna. We continue hearing from Krishna the supremacy of God, in a section that’s just like Chapter 10 of Bhagavad-gita, where Krishna lists categories of things, points out the best thing in that category, and then says that He is that. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.27-33.

In this class we conclude the beautiful, poetic verses that help us understand the absolute supremacy of God, of Krishna. In concluding the chapter, Krishna brings the topic back to how we should behave, then yogic path, focussing on the importance of controlling our speech, mind and prana by using our intelligence. In this class, we covered verses 11.16.34-44.

In the class I mention a video you should watch to truly understand Sannyasa as explained in the Bhagavad-gita by Krishna. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDBhIC9D854
